I know it may sound crazy. But today’s glut of software engineers scares me. Worldwide competition is unprecedented. No other industry out there has to apply so fancy hiring practices in order to choose the only from the hundreds. I mean the useless leetcode, for example. Imagine a medical doctor who ought to practice for months a treatment of aliens from Mars only to be allowed to prescribe you an antibiotic for cold. I suspect it’s a sign that the blooming age of IT is almost over. It’s a time to start for looking for new opportunities. Given your experience in IT, of course. Biotech? Data Science? Any other engineering and researching jobs? Oil & gas? Renewables?
